มื้อกลางวัน

#japanese Like a hidden gem in a secluded corner on the 4th Floor of Tokyu Department Store at MBK Center, Tagoto is a Japanese restaurant that can stand the test of time for more than 30 years now. I don’t know if it is affiliated with the Tagoto restaurant in Kyoto or not, but in Thailand it has no other branch. And there are many good reasons that customers keep coming back to Tagoto even after all these years… MBK Center is a really crowded, noisy, bustling place. It has many restaurants, but none of them are as private and comfortable as Tagoto. The entrance to the restaurant is next to the food center, near the kitchen utensil section. Once inside, the place is very spacious. There are sushi bar, tables for family and for two, private rooms for groups, and built-in restrooms. The menu of Tagoto is very extensive…sushi, sashimi, tempura, tonkatsu & fried prawns, soba, ramen, nabe, Japanese-style desserts…and the list goes on and on… I chose to try one of their set menus. ● Ebifry Teishoku ( 220 Baht) – The set includes Ebifry (4 pieces…and the prawns were of a good size!), miso soup, chawanmushi, kimchi, and fruits. The Ebifry was oh-so-good! The prawn might not be the giant Kuruma Ebi like in luxury restaurants, but they were fresh and had nice texture. The coating was very light, fluffy and crisp, and not too oily at all. The potato salad and the cabbage salad were delicious. The chawanmushi was soft and smooth – with pieces of Chikuwa, chicken, enokitake, and ginkgo seed inside. I was sooo…full when I finish the whole set! To wrap it up, this is a good meal at a reasonable price. Considering the quantity (It was a large set indeed), food materials, and the skill of the chefs- I’m not surprised that the place becomes many people’s favourite. The best place to come when you’re in MBK Center and crave for a hearty Japanese meal!
