Dinner

[First Impressions] Issaya Siamese Club Took me years to finally come here. At the end of the meal, I kind of understand why it has become sort of an 'institution' to have fine Thai food in Bangkok, especially for tourists and foreign visitors. Firstly, the house is beautiful. For best pictures, I suggest coming here in the day as it gets really dark inside at night (and many such restaurants don't even open in the day). You can take incredible photos both of the interior and exterior in the day for sure. Secondly, food presentation exuded the flamboyance of owner, Iron Chef Thailand Ian Kittichai. I saw a simple grilled chicken put into flames and a coconut dessert thrown onto my table, and I heard these are not the only 2 dishes in the menu that involve a performance of some sort. Safe is the word to describe the taste of their food. The Massaman Lamb Shank was excellent, though I wish I could remember the taste of the dishes more than how they looked or were presented. The pleasant-but-slightly-watered-down flavours reminded me of other restaurants in the similar category, like The Local and Patara Fine Thai Cuisine, just with added flair and showmanship. I recommend the Issaya experience if you are new to Bangkok, or have guests who are new to Bangkok. #issayasiameseclub #issaya #iankittichai #ironchef #toptablesbkk #bangkokfoodies #strangerfirstimpression #strangerinbangkok
