This two-storey wooden house is probably the only restaurant in Siam Square with the old-world charm. Having been here for almost 30 years, Baan Khun Mae serves good-quality, authentic Thai food. Their spicy mixed seafood salad was excellent. The chicken satay was a pleasant appetizer. My only complaint was the roasted duck red curry which had pineapples in it (I personally don't like pineapples in my curry!) ..Ending the meal with a traditinal Thai dessert like mango with sticky rice is just perfect! What makes this place stands out above other Thai restaurants in the area is its unique ancient-Thai-house ambience. The interior is beautifully decorated with Thai style antiques and wooden furnitures. There's a live traditional Thai music playing everyday from 19.00-21.00. So, when you make a reservation, don't forget to make a request for a table with a good view of a pretty musician in traditional Thai costume there!
